Frequency Subscribe Summer 2014

It is summer 2014 and we are busy busy busy putting together a feature length film of our series Frequency.

Why a film?
NCGLFF needed another title so we have accepted this CRAZY challenge.

Most feature films are edited over a year. We are tying to do it in a month. I know, crazy right? I guess kicking cancer's a$$ make anything feel possible.

More than a year ago we were at the beach in the midst of Frequency web series production, trying to escape reality for a few days while we waited for what I think both Monique and I knew could possibly be devastating news. It was the weekend of our 19th anniversary. We opted not to tell anyone that we were waiting on biopsy evaluation while we filmed some of the pivotal scenes of Season 2 of Frequency. It was an emotional weekend and difficult hiding it from cast and crew. Since then my brave partner and best friend has gone through a year of surgery, chemo and radiation. We have shared our journey and leaned upon family, friends and strangers. Our crew has been there with us, both emotionally and physically. Our community/crew support has been overwhelming. We have both come out the other end with a forever changed view on life, love and friendship. I wanted to return to the beach for a lot of reasons. For the story line is was a necessity. For me, personally, I wanted Monique and I to have this beautiful setting no longer tethered to the negative. I wanted my love of waves, ocean, sand and surf to be rejoined to the positive. I wanted this to be the place I celebrated 20 years of living with my best friend/ass kicking' Cancer warrior, sharing work and play. And, she let me play. They let me play. I am lucky to have such a wonderful partner. Everyone should be so lucky to have such a love and such wonderful friends.  Our crew of five worked hard and played as they worked. I truly love these gals and everyone who has helped me get this whacked story out of me noggin and into the daylight. :-) <3

I have been editing Frequency and this song has been in my head.
I can no longer keep it in so I will post it here.




The woman was such a icon for young women in the 70's.  I only wish she could have had a happy ending.

My Senior year was the year she passed. Our prom theme was "We've Only Just Begun"
For my own reasons, I voted for on this theme instead of Joe Jackson's song which escapes me now.


Let's just enjoy the talent and wish her well.

Listing Frequency

The week started out by posting part 2 of "Just Friends."

Those of you who are looking for extra sauce with their helping of Frequency will note that parts 1,2, 3 & 4 are about being "Just Friends"

Extra Frequency

This is has been a whirl wind of a month.
January has brought a few birthdays for cast and crew as well as as a few days in the edit room.

The edit sessions are furious. We have edit many pictures and some of the sound.
You will not believe how many sounds it takes to make a  bar sound like a bar.

The next episode is expected any day soon.
Keep us tuned in, we will be right back.

With the New Year many people will feel compelled to make life changes.

2012
Our life change came from last year's resolution. A simple resolution to meet more actors and make another film.
By April. we were fully committed to producing Intersect.

By May we decided to have the short film Intersect become Episode 4 of a larger piece. That larger piece is Frequency.
In November we posted Episode 01 and December brought Episode 02.







2013
We hope you will resolve to watch more independently produced films/webseries, like Frequency.
Frequency will roll out at least ten episodes this year. (maybe more)

KV Works & Team Frequency resolves to make more positive portrayals of lesbians in media.
With the passing of NC's Amendment  1, an anti-gay marriage amendment, KV Works is doing our part to make NC more LGBT friendly. What better to way to do it than making positive art of the lgbt community.

Emergency Frequency

Frequency Episode 2 "Just Friends" has some fun stuff and reveals the characters' connections.

We had fun shooting episode 2. It took us to the Pinhook and Cincinnati?

What does Deanna do with this emergency? 

A. Sends the patient away and goes to lunch with the staff
B. Takes the patient's number & makes an appointment in the future
C. Takes care of the emergency right away

Double the Frequency

Phase reversing is not my intention.
I am trying to pull an optical illusion.

By the Magic of television we now have two where there where one, episodes that is.
We are not pitch shifting sound or shifting light we just split it the one into parts.

We will have EP 01.1 & EP 01.2
On OUR NEW Youtube Channel = KVWorks1

There are a few very small tweaked but nothing of major proportion.

We wanted the Youtube experience to fit the length of the short attention span audience.

SIPPING SCI FI?

I want to sip and savor my sci fi in large blocks.



But YouTube is a wild west of viewing and we want to keep from being a ghost town of a channel.
SOOOO, we cut the episode into two nearly equal parts.













Episode 02 is aging in the big barrel in the warehouse. We will serve no SCI FI before it's time.


ETA is two weeks.
We will drop Frequency EP 02 before the NEW YEAR.

Speaking of 2013, I have listed a few things I'm looking forward to seeing.

Frequency head count

Writers truly do have the last word.

I have had many conversations with the writer about the current series's plot trajectory. I realized today that every character at some point has been killed off and then written back into the plot before the next production day. This amuses me.

Vexing the writer is not good.

Like the birth of Athena, Piper is concentrating on characters.

Today, the head count is still two leads and two main supporting characters as well as two reoccurring characters.





Stay tuned the head count may change depending on the writers mood and whim.

Frequency Inspiration

So the edit is oh so close.

I have a few hours left in NOVEMBER before it all melts into a new month.
Believe me I am crunching pixels as hard as I can to get this episode out the door.

I have to say there where a few plasces that the audio sweetening changed the feel of the scene. Amazing.
