Frequency Focus Issue

Season 2 Episode 09  "Focus Issue" is up on the Youtube.com/kvworks1 channel.

This is the only episode that I was not capable of participating in during the production. I was recovering from a Bilateral Mastectomy and feeling pretty crappy. I had focus issues of my own.

DOWN
This episode reflects PK and my personal psyche at the time of production, March 8, 2013. Tonight, Piper mentioned that this episode's dialog is full of questions. S2E9 starts the part of the Frequency story arch where Deanna and Claire begin a shared journey. Real life back then, was mired in uncertainty and questions as we, Team Frequency - the wonderful cast and crew that helped on this episode- began what is know as a cancer journey.

Like Team Frequency, Claire & Deanna,  hopes for the best outcome but still doesn't understand what the battle is really about. Claire admits to having focus issues but Deanna is not buying it. I suppose the focus issue in real life at the time was, what to keep my eye on while in a battle to save my world.  I suspect the characters are playing out the metaphoric uncertainty of real life a the the time.
Piper is incredible and amazing and I wonder if she meant to write the metaphor of life in this episode or if it just happened. String theory has a way of making things connect that don't seem connected.

The cast and crew created this episode for me when I could not do it myself. Thank you.

UP
This is also an episode where Frequency got to work with other talented actors from the Triangle area here in North Carolina. Piper was very honored to write Frequency characters & scenes for Dana Marks, Laurie Wolf, Geraud Staton, Nathan Logan and Chris Burner. Their participation makes Frequency better. Thank you's go to out to our main cast as well as all the talent that has come on set and played with us.

I enjoyed watching the raw footage in the edit room. It was bitter sweet to know that my part comes a year after it was recorded. I am pleased with the outcome of this episode and hope you enjoy the ride during 80's trivia night at the Pinhook.

Frequency reviewe

La web fest was a blast. It even rocked.
We were present for the earthquake last month.

We met a bunch of great web series makers and felt like we belonged among the group of geeky people.

Frequency was also reviewed by webvee guide's By Jeff Siniawsky
Here is a short excerpt from the review

"I think it’s unfair to label Frequency a LGBTQ show.  Claire and Deanna could have just as easily been Carl and Dean, or Carl and Deanna, or Dean and Claire. The characters’ sexuality is really irrelevant to the story, and the show is much more than the characters’ sexuality. Frequency is a fascinating story being told through some interesting and entertaining characters.   The dialogue is sharp and natural, the acting believable, and the North Carolina locations are beautiful.  Plus, Frequency boasts one of the best show soundtracks I’ve heard in a while.  It’s really no wonder why Frequency has been named an Official Selection of the 2014 LA WebFest. Frequency 1 year later

I was looking at our data and see that we first posted our Youtube channel, kvworks1,  on Dec 12, 2012.

2013 has had some highs and lows for KV Works.

HIGHS
First we posted a few excellent episodes of the best Lesbian Sci Fi on the planet, Frequency.

We met Claire, Deanna, Travis, Jackie and friends at the Pinhook.

Piper was able to spin a yarn about the world where string theory has profound influence on the lives in our drama. A drama where you can tune into a Frequency and change your destiny.

KV Works met some awesome local actors.

We sweat, and lost sleep over our newest love, Frequency.

We made friends half way around the world from neighboring countries on social media. Those folks have hung with us as we have eeked out episode after episode during 2013. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We love you and we love that you have an interest in what we are doing.

LOWS
As the producer and some times the director of Photography of Frequency this year has been a personal challenge.
Early in 2013, I lost part of my anatomy in the fight to beat cancer. This has been devastating personally and emotionally difficult to adjust to.  I am still adjusting to the idea of my new body image. Recovering from surgery KV Works shot two episodes and edit two episodes.

In the spring I started the next phase of my battle.
During Chemo therapy KV Works shot seven or eight episodes and edited four episodes.
By mid year I was starting to bounce back emotionally. We continued to shoot five or six episodes and edit three more.

We have been able to edit and post about one episode per month during 2013.
Without our little project I may have given up my fight.

I have to believe that the silent viewers are rooting for KV Works and Frequency.
Pk and I shaved our heads. I did it so the disease did not take my hair.

My Hair started to return late summer 2013
I lost all my hair after 10 weeks of therapy.
By Fall of 2013 I had the softest hair on the planet.
Let me end by saying "Thanks" to our viewers old and new;
"Welcome" to our newest interested fans.
I am filled with gratitude that I had enough strength to continue working on Frequency in 2013.
I resolve to continue posting in 2014.

May your lives be as filled with meaning, purpose and love as mine was in 2013.

Now for our newest Episode "Do I Stop This"

Frequency dental emergency

The good thing about dentists is they are good in emergencies.

Our generous benefactor, Dr. John Saunders gave big today. He let us film in his office on his day off and we only gave him a few moments to pack before his flight out.
This is a quick endorsement to Dr. John and Wicked Monkey Productions!
His newest novel is out Spartan Negotiator.
The novel really is a look into a roughneck's world and his code of ethics.
Not for weak sensibilities.
June 13, 2013 , 7:00 PM
He is holding a book signing at Barnes & Noble at Friendly Shopping Center , Greensboro.
This man is good in emergencies. Might even say he mentored Dr. Deanna Shelley.

Frequency and CC

The last week we have been working on a few things.

Sound for the next video release.
Finding female lead bands can be harder than you think in this town.
The sound is nearly locked. We expect the newest video out in a day or two.

The other task has made me and PK blurry eyed.
Closed Captions are now available to our hearing challenged viewers.
We had a request about a month ago and now seemed like a good time to stick it in.

We will get to blip in the near future.

The other item that has us dragging out the latest release is my health. I have a ten day cycle of good days and real life and bill paying came first. But we have had progress and will put up a video soon.

Frequency the 1 of 7

It has been quite a year so far. 2013 has brought new topics and themes into our lives.
We have been hard at work on Frequency and trying to keep up with our real lives.
Among the mundane has been a routine check up by my GP.
This is when I learned that I am 1 of 7. (I know that chick below is 7 of 9- one of my favs)

My first thought was I am not going to wear pink. I am not a pink wearing kind of gal.
My second thought was my team color is now pink.

ON a tangent, NCSU, my alma mater, spend February in pink in honor of the late women's basketball coach Kay Yow. While at State she survived breast cancer but finally succumbed to the disease in 2009.

Some of my very long time friends know that I was a varsity athlete while at NCSU.
It was a very exciting experience to play at a Division I University.
*FYI - I was on the team that kept that "other" school from having an uninterrupted championship/dynasty.

I remember Kay Yow as a vibrant energetic woman at the helm of the women's Bball team.

But I digress.

The real point in this post is to encourage women to get to know what the breasts in your life feel like and to get routine mammograms. A little research will do your life good.

I am just starting to understand the concept of having cancer.
I am coming to terms with what it means for my body and my mind.
My spirit is strong and so is my will.

I plan to continue to work on the series, Frequency. It will be my inspiration to keep focused and healthy.

Wish us luck.
I promise to keep bringing fun episodes of Frequency.
Now on with the show.

Frequency of Karen Carpenter

I have been editing Frequency and this song has been in my head.
I can no longer keep it in so I will post it here.

The woman was such a icon for young women in the 70's.  I only wish she could have had a happy ending.

My Senior year was the year she passed. Our prom theme was "We've Only Just Begun"
For my own reasons, I voted for on this theme instead of Joe Jackson's song which escapes me now.

Let's just enjoy the talent and wish her well.

Thank you Karen Carpenter!

Micro Frequency

I thought, tonight I will try my micro blogger App.

I am thinking about Episode 03. It answers some questions left unanswered in all of "Just Friends." I lived shooting it and having the cast and crew get through some hit humid production days. I live the time shift ability of video!

I will leave you with this snippet.
